- Grooves where ribs should be
filled with thin plastic filament (heat part of kit plastic tree over candle
till it gets sloppy, pull evenly apart to desired thickness; cut appropriate
lengths and wet with plastic glue, press into groove and trim if nesessary);
- Navigation lights clear plastic, colour by permanent
ink marker pen (see page "lights");
- Pilots scratch built;
- Canopy and turrets moulded from PVC (see page C);
- Gunner windows clear PVC;
- Gun barrels made of stretched cotton buds (like
stretched sprue), detailing by pin (holes) and thin wire;
Paint:
To my knowledge first application of "preshading" (early
1970s):
- Thin layer of usual paint (in my case
Humbrol enamels).
- Application of stains and weathering in very
much darker resp. lighter colours (plural!); please note: Weathering is not
confined to panel lines (there being no physical reason for this), but appears
in various areas, and gradually, so a multitude of bleached colours is to be
seen.
- Thin layer of usual paint, sparing some
areas where exhaust and/or oil stains should be visible.
